Our Location in Southern Arizona - Borderland Food Bank [Nogales Arizona]

We are uniquely situated in Southern Arizona on the United States side of the border in Nogales, Arizona. Our proximity to the Mexican border and to the produce growing regions of the Southwest provides us with more produce than most Food Banks and Hunger Organizations are ever likely to see. As a result we are able to ship produce throughout the Arizona region. Our shipments reach hungry families near us in Nogales and Tucson through the Phoenix area and up to Flagstaff in Northern Arizona. Our outreach has given us the ability to be a fundamental part of feeding the less fortunate in Arizona and across the Southwest.

Helping families is the cornerstone of what we do at Borderland Food Bank. We feed those in need in Arizona and across the Southwest.

Arizona is a land of many cultures and peoples as well as diverse environments. All of these variables provide a challenge to our Food Bank in providing the right food for the right people at the right time of year. From the arid deserts covering the majority of our state to the forested regions up north and all the way out to the Native American populations on Arizona's vast reservations, the need is great for families to have food on their tables.

Much of Arizona is undeveloped and is home to numerous unique Native American tribes. We are working hard to fight hunger and malnutrition in our region. Many of these people are living in extreme poverty with no running water or electricity, basic services that most of us take for granted. Unemployment on the reservations remains at close to 50%, reaching as high as 90% in some areas. And, more than 50% of homes on the reservation lack complete plumbing. It is extremely important that our hard work reach those in need.

Our Food Bank is also very active in helping our sister city of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, with produce, through our direct client services program and through our agency distribution program. It is our goal to help those that are hungry and in need to eat nutritiously through produce distribution and be a positive presence across Southern Arizona and parts of the Nation.
